Founded in 1760, Colnaghi has enjoyed a long and varied history spanning more than 250 years. Colnaghi established itself initially as the premier dealership for prints. By the end of the 19th century the firm had begun dealing in Old Master Paintings and Drawings and was instrumental in the formation of some of the most important American collections, including that of Isabella Stewart Gardener, Henry Clay Frick and Andrew Mellon.
In more recent years, following on from Jorge Coll’s acquisition of the firm, Colnaghi have become leaders in the Spanish and Italian Baroque, making sales to prestigious museums such as the Prado, the Louvre and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Colnaghi re-opened a New York space in 2017, focusing on Antiquities, and is also now showing art form the Early Modern period.
